My name is Neil Steven Cohen. I started my nonprofit organization Naljor Prison Dharma Service in 2001. In addition, I work professionally with individuals and groups, assisting people in their psychological and spiritual transformation. www.integrativeawakening.com

I also specialize in macro, close-up photography. My deep passion is photography that inspires the heart and mind with its vivid color and naturalness. The closer we are to nature, our appreciation of it deepens. The deeper our appreciation of nature, the less tendency there will be for us to harm or destroy this precious Earth we live upon.

All of the photographic images on this site were shot spontaneously in their natural environment. I never harm any of the subjects in any way, nor do I use a studio with artificial lighting. And I do not manipulate the photographic images, except for minor digital editing enhancements necessary for clarity and vividness.

Peace, in the sense of the absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold. It will not remove the pain of torture inflicted on a prisoner of conscience. It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free.
